Common questions

What is an amortisation schedule?

A table that shows, for each month, how much of your EMI goes to interest, how much to principal, and what balance remains.

Why is most of my early EMI interest?

Interest is charged on the outstanding balance, which is highest at the start. As the balance falls, more of each EMI goes to principal.

Does the template handle part-prepayment?

Yes. Enter the amount in the Extra column for that month and the schedule shortens.

Will it match my lender's statement exactly?

Close, not always to the rupee. Lenders differ on day-count and rounding. Use your lender's statement for the exact figure.

Estimates only, not financial advice. Check figures against your lender's documents.
