About this calculator
A SIP puts a fixed amount into an investment every month. This tool shows what that could become if it earned a steady yearly return.
Real returns are not steady. Use it to compare plans, such as ₹5,000 versus ₹10,000 a month, rather than to predict a number.
How it is calculated
- Monthly rate = yearly rate ÷ 12.
- Each month: value = (value + instalment) × (1 + monthly rate). The instalment is added at the start of the month.
- With a step-up, the instalment grows by your chosen percentage every 12 months.
Assumptions. A constant return, instalments at the start of each month, and no taxes, fund charges or exit load. Those reduce what you actually get.
Questions
What return should I enter?
Use a cautious figure. Past returns do not guarantee future returns. Try several, such as 8%, 10% and 12%.
Is a step-up worth it?
Yes, if your income grows. Try 10% to see how much a yearly raise adds.
Is this exact?
It is a standard formula using the numbers you enter. Your bank, fund or lender may round differently or use different dates, so treat it as a close estimate and check the final figure with them.
